The Effects of Stigma in Mental Health

I came across this picture today and it completely resonated with me. As a society, we should be cautious of stigmas we attach to mental health.
The process of stigmatization is debilitating. Stigma hinders families from talking about issues that are occurring within the home, reduces the amount of people who access help for mental health, isolates families/communities that are experiencing mental health - and that is just to name a few ways that stigma stifles recovery. Mental health just not discriminate; it affects us all, not just the person who is ill. Let's all be more responsible about how we contribute to the stigmatization of mental health. Try not to use words like "crazy and psycho". People and families who are struggling with mental health issues may find these label offensive.
Be the change you would like to see!
